          Quintessential Cinema is a voluntary, non-commercial project dedicated to excellence in cinema. This website is intended as a repository of information pertaining to motion pictures. Quintessential Cinema is the only serious effort to compile the complete definitive list of all English language films that the majority of critics and viewers deem worth watching. This ground breaking work has resulted in the list of the top 4000, English language feature films in existence. This list includes virtually each and every film which seems likely of remembrance by the keen filmgoer or student, whether with affection for its own sake as good entertainment, for showcasing particular talent, for sheer curiosity value or for box office success. This brings in the best of virtually everything which played as main feature in Britain or America. It encompasses feature films from all genres, styles and periods; the whole breadth and scope of cinema. This does not include short films, documentaries, television movies or direct video productions. This list does not include B movies or X-rated films either. My work is intended as a reference for students of cinema, serious film collectors, video rental store managers… and of course film buffs. It is my earnest desire that this site serves as a guide for those who seek quality entertainment only.
